Mem. Day weekend post #2: Cheap games
May 26, 2008Dan No Comments »On the advice of a friend, I decided to pick up Bioshock for PC a couple of days ago. I was able to get it for $12 after shipping (yeah ebay!). Not too bad at all in my mind. The game won many game of the year awards for 2007. It also looks pretty nice on my gaming PC, but I don’t think it looks as nice as it should for being a 2007 game. Maybe I’m just being picky or the graphics style of the game (explained below) doesn’t lend itself to fancy graphics and showy weapons. I think TF2 looks quite a bit better, having been released only a couple months after Bioshock.
It took me maybe a half an hour or 45 minutes of playing to really get into it, but now I am really enjoying it. Until I played it, I never realized that the game takes place in 1960. The art and general graphics style of the game fits with that era, and it’s quite different from any other games I’ve played. Unique.
I played for almost 4 hours in one sitting the other day…it’s been a while since I’ve done that. Since the orange box I think. I just started level 3, and I think there are 7 or 8 total. All in all it’s a pretty good game and I’m enjoying it.
